]]Emo was shaped by other music genres, such as post hardcore, heavy metal, and grunge. Although bands such as Nirvana and Weezer aren't emo, they did help shape what emo is today.

Believe it or not I did Emo Dance Music in the 90s and actually influenced Nirvana! So the influence goes back and forth. See also: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0GvqMH5S5wpYWW2L0jzRUXIT Bee (talk) 08:46, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Elder Emo "Elder Emo" is a term of endearment granted to the emo bands that have weathered the onset of responsibilities like parenthood and other aspects of adulthood. Elder Emo intends to embrace the role of emeritus members and elder statespersons of a genre that is a little surprised by not only its own longevity and status but the sharing of adulthood with many of their fans.

Ronnie Winter of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus informed the crowd of their membership during their set in the SoWhat? music festival in Dallas 2023. IIRC.life (talk) 20:26, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
