Under the section "==Early life==", the opening sentence reads "James was born on December 30, 1984, in Akron, Ohio, to Gloria Marie James, who was 16 at the time of his birth." Can you please add "LeBron Raymone" to open the sentence? It should read "LeBron Raymone James was born on December 30, 1984, in Akron, Ohio, to Gloria Marie James, who was 16 at the time of his birth." 2603:8000:8500:38F2:C5C1:BEEE:B0C9:A94 (talk) 21:55, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nicknamed "King James", he is widely acknowledged as one of, if not the greatest player in the sport's history and is frequently compared with Michael Jordan in debates over who is the greatest basketball player of all time. Anonymous7432 (talk) 20:46, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. The copy you have specified already appears almost verbatim in the lead; no need to change "recognized" to "acknowledged" as in this usage they are synonymous. "if not the greatest player" is pure WP:PUFFERY. He either is or he isn't, and we would need a consensus of reliable sources to describe him as such versus "one of the greatest." General Ization Talk 21:06, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's not like Michael Jorden is the only other player vying for GOAT as Wilt Chamberlain is often said to be the all-time best. Several others could also carry that mantel so it is best to leave the names out of that sentence. It really shouldn't even be in the lead as GOAT is water-cooler stuff best left to a subjective legacy section, not an encyclopedic lead. Fyunck(click) (talk) 01:43, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For background, one of the prior discussions related to this is at Talk:LeBron James/Archive 5 § Status as "greatest ever"Bagumba (talk) 03:49, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Our own Chamberlain article says it with sources that he is often regarded as greatest ever. Why would we limit it to Michael Jordan here and treat it as pov? The line is one thing, though I would never put it in the lead, but it should not mention names other than James. Whether it's tv shows, or press articles, or Basketball Network articles, or the NBA, Wilt is as a great a player as ever stepped on a court. To write it's between LeBron and Jordan is water-cooler stuff that is a disservice to an encyclopedia. Fyunck(click) (talk) 05:57, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To be clear, my comment was more FYI. I haven't settled on a position for this, one way or another.—Bagumba (talk) 08:16, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
