The Watch Shorts link doesnt work

Fixing up

[edit]

This page would probably be a vauable one, if it were complete. I've made a base standard of the first episode. If all are happy with the format, I'll get to work on the rest of them later. And probably add more to the transcripts than just dialouge later. Thunderbird 00:54, 13 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not too sure about the title... perhaps this article will be better on a page called The Simpsons Shorts or something like that, with this page redirecting there. Any thoughts? BillPP 14:39, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good Night Is Quite a clever day for maggy

[edit]

And Also On 19 april 1987 maggie talked for the first time and thats pritty impreseve being -6 years old acording to maggy bieing born on september 1 1993. she said hello for the first time on the first clip not even episode clip of the simpsons AMAZING!

On DVD

[edit]

Anybody know of any plans to release the shorts on DVD at all. Still haven't seen most of them (would you believe they were edited out of UK showings of The Tracy Ullman show as it was thought they wouldn't be popular in the UK! Probably by the same guy who turned The Beatles down for Decca in '62). Seems a shame that they're not generally available. Martyn Smith 19:47, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am a big Simpsons fan so I downloaded the TV-rips of these episodes. I watch them on my DivX player (DVD player that plays AVIs basically). --GoOdCoNtEnT 20:14, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. N!Godatu?

[edit]

The article states that the Tracey Ullman Show shorts consisted of two separate series: The Simpsons, and Dr. N!Godatu. However, I can't find any episode of Dr. N!Godatu contained in the list of shorts in this article, which makes the article more about the Simpsons shorts than about all of the shorts that aired. Am I missing something here or is the article inaccurate/incomplete? Can whoever added the episodes about the Simpsons (and therefore presumably has access to a list of all the shorts) please add the remainder of the shorts to the list, if there are any? --DavidGC 09:11, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. This article is only about the Simpsons. Therefore I moved the article to reflect that. Someone could start another page called List of Dr. N!Godatu shorts or something. --Maitch 16:20, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DVD releases

[edit]

I have reverted an edit by User:BakerBaker, because it was unsourced and had peacock terms. The whole back story to why only one clip was released on the season one DVD is fascinating and it should be included, but I need a reference to a source in order to put it back in the article.

The reverted text is shown below. --Maitch 21:54, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Despite the incredible popularity of the Simpsons, the original shorts have rarely been seen since their original airdates. In spite of this however, several of the shorts were released on VHS compilations of various Simpsons episodes in the late 1990s. When the first season of the Simpsons was announced for release, it was announced that the set would feature all three seasons worth of original shorts as a bonus feature. However at the last minute, only the first sketch ("Good Night") was included. The omission was done mainly as a result of Fox not wanting to risk another drawn out legal battle with Tracy Ullman, over DVD royalties regarding the shorts, opting instead to include just the single short.

That said, "Good Night" and four additional shorts ("The Perfect Crime", "Space Patrol", "World War III", and "Bathtime".[1]) were shown in their entirity in the series retrospect/deleted scenes spotlight episode "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular", which was released, uneditted, on the show's seventh season DVD set.

Most recently, Matt Groening has announced that all of the shorts will be finally available, though via mobile phones.[2]

"electrocute but not fatally"

[edit]

One of the shorts' descriptions currently includes the phrase 'electrocute but not fatally'. Since to electrocute is to kill by means of electricity, should it maybe be changed to 'recieves a minor electric shock'?

The Correct Titles?

[edit]

I downloaded the entire shorts series of the Simpsons, and I noticed that "What Maggie's Thinking" is called "Maggie's Brain" at the end of that particular one. There are also conflicting titles in different sources, such as "Dinnertime" being "Eating Dinner" on some websites. I'm wondering, does Wikipedia have the official names? 208.101.173.66 17:47, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The names on this list are taken from the official guide book. --Maitch 21:09, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are numerous errors in the Complete Guide books. As usual, The Simpsons Archive is more accurate. (The Complete Guide mistakes are also listed there). Scott 21:13, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Marge's Name

[edit]

I'm not sure, but I believe that Marge is never actually named throughout the shorts. Am I correct, and if so, is this worth mentioning? IceKeyHunter 05:09, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

She's usually credited as "Mrs. Simpson". I don't think they ever mentioned Marge's name within the show. Maybe they have on the actual Tracey Ullman Show. In any case, I'm sure she was always Marge in Matt Groening's mind since the Simpson family was named after his own family (with Bart [or "Brat"] replacing Matt). 208.101.173.66 14:52, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for shorts

[edit]

i think there should be seperate articles for each short —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fifaworld07 (talkcontribs) 19:47, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. None of these shorts, except Good Night, pass WP:EPISODE. -- Scorpion0422 19:52, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll have a look at WP:EPISODE and see if I can get any of the other episodes individual articles. --T.M.M. Dowd (talk) 10:52, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1990

[edit]

Excuse me, but i'm a little confused. IMDB lists there being shorts that aired on the show in 1990. Were there season 3 shorts that were left unaired until later? NitroMan3941 (talk) 02:21, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, i guess these weren't Simpsons shorts like i thought. (I thought at first Homer's credit meant it involved the Simpson Family) NitroMan3941 (talk) 02:06, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

I think this page should be merged with List of The Simpsons episodes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.23.53.68 (talk) 18:49, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why? The shorts are different from the series. Also, the main list is already rather long, and this one uses a different table format, so combining the two would mean a long and inconsistantly formatted list. -- Scorpion0422 19:15, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

date

[edit]

Is it known when Groening pitched it to Brooks? I'm assuming some time in 1987? 50.100.39.133 (talk) 03:47, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
