Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

P.S. One last helpful hint. To sign your posts like I did above (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).

Hello

[edit]

Hi Schissel, I just wanted to give you a more personalized welcome--it's great to see someone else editing in the classical music area; there's not many of us. I like your violin sonata and cello sonata lists so far (do you plan a viola sonata list too? :-) ) Some day every piece will have its own article... sigh. Really happy to have you here. Best wishes! Antandrus 03:41, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)

My thanks and you the same! (And as an ex-violist, I can only say "sure" to that.) Still, I'm glad this is the sort of place where people edit each other - I do have a tendency to get enthusiastic about things. ;) Schissel 03:52, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Good job on the War of the Romantics start! Wikipedia can be addictive, don't you think?  :-) Antandrus 04:09, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Thanks thanks :) (and rather!) (Ah, I did forget something - done.) Schissel 04:13, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

The Humungous Image Tagging Project

[edit]

Hi. You've helped with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Wiki Syntax, so I thought it worth alerting you to the latest and greatest of Wikipedia fixing project, User:Yann/Untagged Images, which is seeking to put copyright tags on all of the untagged images. There are probably, oh, thirty thousand or so to do (he said, reaching into the air for a large figure). But hey: they're images ... you'll get to see lots of random pretty pictures. That must be better than looking for at at and the the, non? You know you'll love it. best wishes --Tagishsimon (talk)

Hi Schissel, thanks for asking about BJP logo. I should have added the info about the image to start with. I think the image is fairuse - I am not sure though. I have added more info at the logo page [1]. --Ankur 04:12, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I replied on my page :-) Fantasy 13:25, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)

BRL61-0348-IBM_632.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for finding another of my uploads that I had done before the tags were available (or at least before I knew about them).

Actually it was being used on IBM 632, but did not get listed (apparently because of a " " instead of an "_" in the name). That is fixed now too. -- RTC 17:13, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

I'm in Trouble

[edit]

Schissel,

I received your note on my Talk Page regarding the copyright status of B_holly.jpg. I confess that I obtained this from someplace on the internet and I know of no copyright information about this image. I also downloaded the following with no authorization. Because I find this tagging project confusing, I will leave it up to you to properly identify these or delete them. I did all of this before I was fully aware of the rules regardng copyright. Whoops, that made no sense

[edit]

A section was removed here to another page (and Nothing used to replace it) by the page maintainer. Pay that no mind. Nothing to see here, nothing to see here...

Although just to see if that whole bit and kerfliff and kerflaffler worked, testing testing one and two and Schissel (bowl listen) 00:56, Dec 15, 2004 (UTC)
Ok, this is working on other people’s talk pages and not on my own. Weird, weird, weird. Extra space was added apparently??? Schissel (bowl listen) 01:06, Dec 15, 2004 (UTC)
Heh, still not. What do I want it to say? (And why is it bold? Is it just my browser? This is getting odder and odder. It might be something from further up on the page, of course. It seems to work fine on the Tmp page. Odder and otter still. Will try this one on the tmp page. Schisselbowl listen 01:09, Dec 15, 2004 (UTC)
This is going to be tough, and I should once again move it to the temp page... Schisselbowl listen 01:10, Dec 15, 2004 (UTC)

image tag

[edit]

Hi there,

re: Badaling Expressway image

This file was uploaded prior to 15 October 2004 (not including that date). As a result, I release it under the GFDL. I've tagged it GFDL.

Thanks!

Best,

--DF08 23:23, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Hi Schissel,

I noticed you are drafting a page on the last quartet of Schubert, and wanted to encourage you. That's a great piece and needs an article. I think it's also one of the longest quartets to be written up until that point.

Oh, and by the way, I was happy to see the article on op. 132 go up (I have trouble thinking of the Beethoven quartets in any way other than by opus numbers!) That stuff is the Himalayas for me, and that piece in particular I think is Mt. Everest. Happy editing and happy holidays, Antandrus 17:41, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Mozart

[edit]

Hi Schissel -- sorry if I clobbered what you were working on, since we were both doing cleanups at the same time -- I'll stay off the page for the next day or so. Also, the original section on the Saltzburg symphonies seemed to have some mistakes in it, with some of the same ones listed as Germanic and Italian. I'm not really an expert on the topic, so if you are, could you take a look at that? Thanks again, and happy holidays! --Arcadian 19:46, 27 Dec 2004 (UTC)
