Bad redirect

[edit]

Being as how Dennis Rader was only apprehended yesterday, and is only a suspect in this crime - not even brought to trial yet, much less convicted - I feel it's completely inappropriate to make BTK be a redirect to Dennis Rader. I also feel it is extremely premature to so definitively name Rader as the killer. - Brian Kendig 23:06, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I concur, although I don't see why Dennis Rader can't redirect to BTK killer, with the information accumulated in this article. Because that page exists, an administrator will have to make the reverse move, in order to preserve editing history. --Dhartung | Talk 23:25, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I definitely think the article should be split. There are sections clearly from either topic; each can link to the other, but it should NOT be one article unless and until Rader is clearly convicted. This is linked off the Main Page, so I would recommend doing this soon... Radagast 02:56, Feb 27, 2005 (UTC)
Dennis Rader is entirely unnotable aside from being a suspect. Move the article to BTK killer, and make Dennis Rader a redirect. grendel|khan 04:57, 2005 Feb 27 (UTC)
This article should be under BTK killer, not the name of the suspect. A-giau 05:32, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)
It should be pointed out that the police seem quite certain that this is the man. "Wichita Mayor Carlos Mayans told The Eagle before the news briefing that law-enforcement officers had told him that Rader's DNA matched evidence from at least one of the BTK crime scenes." ~Wichita Eagle. "The bottom line: BTK is arrested." ~Wichita Police Chief Norman Williams. Still, I agree that the current title is presumptuous. Wait for the outcome of the trial, or at least for a confession. Have "Dennis Rader" redirect to BTK, but the two shouldn't be completely merged just yet. Mr. Billion 07:35, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)
It looks more than a bit daft having the article "Dennis Rader" under the category "Unidentified serial killers". Hn 09:06, Feb 27, 2005 (UTC)
