This is a great entry! Very full and useful, within the constraints of an English editing, which I am happy to provide! You might mention other monuments on the hill which already have a wikipedia existence - Sant'Andrea al Quirinale springs to mind. MichaelTinkler

glad you enjoyed it, sorry my english always needs... cooperation :-)
i wasn't able to find an article about the church, apart in bernini's one, is there one?

"The Palazzo del Quirinale was the residence of the popes until 1870". This seems puzzling: Did they move into the Vatican only in 1870? - Perhaps the meaning is that the Pal. del Quirinale was Papal property?

The Palazzo was a Papal property, indeed, as quite everything in Rome before 1870. It was the residence of the popes from a date I don't remember to 1870. Then it was the residence of the kings of Italy from 1870 to 1946, and is now the residence of the presidents of the Republic. In 1870 popes retired into the Vatican, where is now their residence. --G

The Vatican palace was the official papal residence but that doesn't mean popes actually lived there. Kings of Italy didn't actually live in the Quirinale when it was the official royal residence; instead they lived in a private residence elsewhere. Officially the Quirinale was the papal summer residence until 1870, but popes lived there often for more than just the summer. The liberation of Rome in 1870 however forced popes to live back in the Vatican, where popes had once lived. STÓD/ÉÍRE 01:46 Mar 24, 2003 (UTC)

I am right in thinking that the Vatican Hill is on the opposite side of the river from the seven hills of Rome? Michael Hardy 01:52 Mar 24, 2003 (UTC)

I do not know how to edit references, but footnote number 4 refers to malaria as meaning "bed air" -- methinks it should really be "bad air"... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.243.205.30 (talk) 13:39, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
