Paradise

[edit]

This entry states there is no in-game evidence that suggests that the fictional Paradise, Arizona featured within the game corresponds to the real life ghost town of Paradise, Arizona. This is simply not true. In game street signs place the game's Paradise in the same location as the ghost town Paradise of the real world. This YouTube video at 4:11 ([1]) clearly shows that intention, with the game's Paradise being within 33 miles of Willcox, a town within the same county as the real life Paradise and also about 33 miles away. I will change the article to reflect this. It seems likely that a ghost town was chosen so that a real world location without citizens to protest could be used. -- El Payaso Malo 99.191.164.54 (talk) 02:06, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Postal 2 Entry

[edit]

I'm very much a fan of Postal 2 and I'm a little bit worried that this entry - my first for a computer game - may come across with a little bit too much enthusiasm, although I have tried to stay objective. If anyone thinks I've strayed away from the Neutral P.O.V. they can always edit it of course.

-Robert 14:18, 17 November 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Having read the article, read your comment on the talk page, then checked the history, I was surprised to see no one had edited it. I found the article well balanced and wouldn't have guessed the author was a fan. Nice article, congrats! Jachin 01:43, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I am very much confused on what the original author(s) was/were intending when it states in the Trivia section, "...also the game clearly noticing that this game is extrictly only for adults." I tried editing it but just didn't know what they were getting at... 71.201.109.207 05:02, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Changed extrictly -> strictly, hopefully that will clear up some confusion. brabblebrex 15:24, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quotes Section

[edit]

Does this part really belong? brabblebrex 15:22, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About as much as it does for duke nukem, since the postal character is vocal, and with intent of humour. JackpotDen 21:48, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
could be a candidate for WikiQuote instead.

Minor inaccuracies

[edit]

I just made one little correction, where it said weapons ranging from machine guns to napalm launchers are just lying about for the player to pick up. The napalm launcher is acquired as part of a mission and cannot be procured anywhere else, although "ammo" for it can be found in various areas. A very minor distinction, but one I felt was worth making nonetheless. Changed it to "rocket-launcher" instead, a weapon that can be found in relative abundance. CyberRaptor 19:47, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. —LOL 08:43, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to question the following sentence: “Regardless of the Dude's actions, the police storm the building in an attempt to arrest Gary Coleman and a gunfight ensues which invariably results in Coleman's demise (with or without the player's help).” Does Coleman really die after the player eliminates all the cops? —LOL 08:43, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, he does. All the times I've played he's dies even if you kill the cops first. It was kind of weird, I watched him after I killed the cops, and he just sprung up and died. ``BGOATDoughnut 03:53, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
He does die regardless. If you have Dude's vocal variety cranked up, he'll even comment on this if you're still in the mall, even if he doesn't actually witness this. Apocalypse Weekend retcons the death though as he's alive in the hospital at the start(he'll run in terror from Dude), and walking around Paradise bandaged up later on(the numerous "hallucination" Gary enemies are not the same, BTW). You can kill him when he's walking around though. If you cut off a limb with the machete, he'll crawl on the ground and utter, "If I see anybody selling my blood on eBay... I will come back from the dead and kick your sorry asses!".
I remember playing the original Postal2 and taking Gary's side against the cops, at the end he ended walking around talking, I watched him a while and then continued. Never saw him drop dead.-Jrksid 2009
I just played it last night and this is also what I saw. How long was I supposed to sit around waiting for him to die for no reason?--Quintopia (talk) 19:04, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Weapons section

[edit]

Does anyone think there should be a short section dedicated entirely to the weapons encountered in Postal 2? There are certainly a great deal of them, and it might be useful to generate a list. The ones in Apocalypse Weekend, Apocalypse Weekend 7, and Eternal Damnation can be included as well. Volkov 325 19:45, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spoilers

[edit]

I've just stopped reading. The gameplay section is full of spoilers. Follow path A Colman dies, follow path B Colman dies. I was looking for info on a game I indend on playing. Please tag these sections with spoiler tags. 202.134.253.187 01:37, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That, plus Coleman doesn't necessarily even die, so it's not even true. I've played the scenario several times and he was always alive by the time I left the mall...however, his demise is implied at the 'end of the day dialogue' between Postal Dude and his wife, so... Fair use rationale for Image:Postal 2 game screenshot.jpeg

[edit]

Image:Postal 2 game screenshot.jpeg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Controversial aspects subheaders

[edit]

The list of controversial aspects had become quite long and unstructured. I've added a few subheaders. I'm not all too happy with them as they are now, but I think it's still better than having just one long list. Maybe someone else can improve the structure.—Graf Bobby 01:05, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AWP

[edit]

I'm currently playing the Fudge Pack version of AWP and some of the descriptions here don't jive with it. For example, it's mentioned that the School is accessed on Tuesday and becomes a zombie battle. In AWP there's no zombie battle and the area isn't opened until Wednesday. I took this reference out. Perhaps the section could be revised to more clearly indicate the different versions of Fudge Pack and the mods that are out there. For example, my FP has Eternal Damnation, but the article at one point says it wasn't included in FP. Perhaps different versions in different regions? 23skidoo (talk) 14:58, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]

Postal²Postal 2 — The superscript 2 is a stylization used for promotion and marketing. The title should be in plain English according to Wikipedia rules (MOS:TM), without any stylizations. A move would eliminate the need for an automatic redirect when a user types "postal 2" into the search box. — Mika1h (talk) 21:06, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Add-ons

Am I the only one who thinks that 1337 patch, AWP and ED aren't relevant add-ons? Postal Plus also isn't, it's a compilation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.35.228.222 (talk) 14:57, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bug Notes

[edit]

When playing this game (Postal 2: Apocalypse Weekend), I encountered a notable bug. During gameplay, I couldn't get the Postal Dude to urinate. So I researched on this and discovered a software patch that specifically solves this problem. Here is a link for proof:

http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/postal2apocalypseweekend/download_6127063.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=files&tag=files;download

If this is enough evidence, is it possible we can somehow merge this into the article? Kolossus (talk) 15:53, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Facts of Life or What's Happening?

[edit]

In my last playthrough of Postal 2, The Postal Dude said that he had always liked Gary Coleman in a show called "What's Happening," not "Facts of Life." I never recall that being said on the Windows version either (I presently use a Mac and the Mac version).

Split off Apocalypse Weekend

[edit]

I think that Apocalypse Weekend should be split off into its own article, as it could then be expanded to discuss things such as its reception or development. Most expansion packs tend to have their own articles. Hamish Paul Wilson (talk) 00:07, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Controversial Aspects Section

[edit]

I have removed the Controversial aspects section, as it is not proper for a Wikipedia article, and copied it to the fan Postal Wiki on Wikia. It is more appropriate for lists of that sort to be on external fan wikis.Hamish Paul Wilson (talk) 19:39, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GoG.com/Good Old Games

[edit]

For distribution of Postal 2 Complete it's on GoG.com, don't change it back to Good Old Games as the name of the service changed several months ago to just GoG.com to reflect that they're now accepting newer titles with some recent titles added such as Alan Wake, Far Cry 2 and several indie titles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.150.119.144 (talk) 00:00, 19 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

ban update

[edit]

it seems to be implied that Postal 2 has been released everywhere [1] yet that does not seem to be the case in countries like germany should that information be updated? --Jan200101 (talk) 11:53, 9 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Jan200101: I updated the article. Status in New Zealand is unclear, I don't know anyone from NZ to test it. https://www.reddit.com/r/newzealand/comments/ebj4kh/postal_2_is_free_but_is_it_legal_to_add_it_to/ would suggest it's available in NZ on GOG but not Steam.
As for Australia, it's also not clear. See Australia's video game censorship 'the laughing stock of the world', Australia also banned DayZ, We Happy Few and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
According to List of banned video games in Australia, "Classification is compulsory, and games refused classification by the ACB are banned for sale, hire or public exhibition, carrying a maximum fine of $275,000 and/or 10 years' jail. It is, however, legal to possess RC games (except in Western Australia and prescribed areas of the Northern Territory)."
Considering Australia bans pretty much everything that isn't Peppa Pig, I can imagine Steam/GOG simply ignoring those bans and waiting for a warning. They don't operate from Australia, so they couldn't be fined anyway. If the Australian government doesn't ban those services either, I guess the status quo remains. - Alexis Jazz 02:18, 17 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No Postal game is "banned" in Germany, it is on the "list of media harmful to minors" and therefore the status for most Postal games is more like an "adult only" - the only way you could get in trouble with "Postal" is selling it to a minor. Chris Retro (talk) 16:13, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not quite, per the USK, indexed games cannot be a) sold to minors, b) sold online, and c) advertised or exhibited anywhere. It is not formally banned, as in you can legally own it, but there is no standard way of purchasing it because no retailer can effectively stock it. IceWelder [] 16:40, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is already a way to legally distribute such games - but yes, unfortunately that is an extra route that only a few people want to take. In order to buy adult DVDs in online shops, for example, you also have to be age-verified. Steam does not offer this verification and is therefore not allowed to sell indexed games in Germany. As it says on the USK website: "However, they must still be legally available to adults - either in a special shop accessible only to adults or online in a closed user group for adults only." So if Steam introduces this check, Steam would be allowed to sell "Postal 2" to adults in Germany - but they don't want to. Chris Retro (talk) 13:41, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The programs for creating the graphics of Postal 2

[edit]

After personal communication in email with Josh Leichliter, art director at RWS, I understood that the programs for creating the graphics of Postal 2 by Steve Wik were 3DS Max and Softimage.

I tried to add this datum to the article but the data was removed, probably because I didn't add a source. I understand this so I remind this here anyway. Thank you. 2A10:8012:7:97C7:49A4:6551:22D1:BEB9 (talk) 16:54, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
