Where do I find this definition of 'orb' cited in "[the second Duke of Buckingham] carried the orb at the coronation on April 23, 1661," http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Villiers%2C_2nd_Duke_of_Buckingham

David

  • The answer is to look for the regalia-meaning, as that term denotes crown jewels (the globe-shaped orb is one) and other objects and priviliges associated with monarchy

As readers needing a disambiguation page may often be unaware if the word is an acronym or abbreviation, I imported the data from ORB and ORBS, making both redirect to Orb. Fastifex 11:33, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think the first match in google for the word "Orb" deserves an entry in this article. I spent time writing the article and adding link to it where it was referenced, by Pan Dan saw fit to destroy my work and remove all the links and try to delete my article marking it as spam. Thanksfully the speedy for spam was denied on the article, but I'd like to see what others think of this issue. Please, try this simple test: Open google.com, search for orb, look at the first result. Don't you think it deserves its line here?--Webdude0 18:01, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have apologized to Webdude on my talk page (I was confusing his work with that of a persistent spammer on a similar topic). I agree with Webdude, I see no reason why the link shouldn't stay. Pan Dan 02:15, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orbs (Paranormal)

[edit]

Orbs of light can be seen by the naked eye, whats caught on camera cannot as explained in other articles its usually reflections of light while taking the photo.

Am not much of a paranormal expert so i dont think i can explain better then that, anyhoo i think it needs rewording a little bit :] --EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 00:17, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sections

[edit]

I created sections in order to better differentiate between items. Section titles may need work. -Mardus (talk) 23:48, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's fine, per MOS:DABORDER, but it's not really compatible with the old method of organization which separated Orb as a word and ORB as an initialism. Now we have one section Culture, entertainment and media (words) and another Media and entertainment (initialisms). These should be merged. Wbm1058 (talk) 15:53, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
