Do we know who has used food tasters in the past, and, even more interesting, who uses food tasters today?--Pharos 04:29, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Frequently ancient rulers, doubt there are many in this day and age. After all there is the major problem of slow acting posions. Mathmo Talk 10:59, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
US President Barack Obama uses one.:
"Un agent des services secrets s'est ainsi tenu en cuisine, pendant tout le repas, pour goûter les plats destinés à Barack Obama."[1]
("A secret service agent stayed in the kitchen through the whole meal, to taste the dishes intended for Barack Obama", article about Obama's dinner in a Paris restaurant this past week). 67.122.209.126 (talk) 13:00, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Claims, citation

[edit]

What is the meaning of 'sacrifices' in "...food tasters or sacrifices"? If it means to refer to food tasters broadly as sacrifices, then it really ought to be removed. And where is the source for the claim that praegustatores were often slaves? Even in its current forms, the article needs revisions in other areas (For example, "...presidents and royal families" does not give a good historical overview of the employers of tasters testers). Moreover, better citations could probably be given, if any are to be given at all; And inline citations should actually be connected to the portions they are attached to.
