Wondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Cities standards might help.

Removed images

[edit]

I removed the two images recently added because neither were very clear. It was impossible to tell what they were pictures of. Also, the caption of one image said that Globe-Miami were "grooved together into one city", which isn't true. While they're adjacent, and to the traveller may seem to be one, they're seperate cities with seperate city governments, and are actually seperated by the communities of Claypool and Central Heights. --Bad carpet 00:07, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removed subjective content.

[edit]

Removed content that sounded suspiciously like strong opinions regarding Globe radio stations.

Removed entry regarding local Globe buisnessman, while maybe a local standout, I don't believe he meets the Wikipedia's requirements of notable.

Removed a rambling, unsourced, unencyclopedic entry re a local woman who was apparently injured by herbicide spray. Pete Tillman 03:45, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Besh ba Gowah misunderstanding

[edit]

Besh ba Gowah, meaning "place of metal," is indeed the Apache name for Globe and the copper mines. My recollection is that the name got mistakenly applied to the ruin, when the archaeologist excavating it asked her Apache laborers for their name for it, and they misunderstood and gave her their name for the general area. I don't have the source at hand, but IB it was a book or article on the history of the ruin. I used to live in the area. --Pete Tillman (talk) 21:58, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New topic

[edit]

I just passed through the Globe-Miami Arizona area yesterday and there is now a self guided walking tour of the Old Dominion Mine. I realized that the photo that I authorized you to use of the Old Dominion is actually the Miami Copper Company Number 5 mine headframe, not the Old Dominion. I have a picture of the Old Dominion that I took if you would like to replace it. Let me know. jerry_minemappers@yahoo.com Sorry about the confusion.
