Irrelevant content?

[edit]

With respect, this is a very poorly written article. I've corrected some of the worst English and small errors like Sabresonic being a "Warehouse rave" - it was a regular night at a club called Happy Jacks. I'll have a proper crack sometime as it really doesn't do the great man justice.

I have tagged the Discography section of this article as it seems to contain a substantial amount of (possibly) irrelevant material, recently added by an anonymous editor, which takes the article significantly over the recommended size. Should the section be pared down? Or reverted? Opinions welcome. talkGiler S 13:34, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you mean. Truly staggering discography, he? Thing is, he had a hand in all of those records in a way or another. So, it's long, but complete. He worked as a producer, dj, artist, composer, interpret and remixer. This explains the sheer quantity. Nico235, August 7 2006
I take your point that the records should stay — but how about getting rid of the playlists so we're just left with a list of records rather than individual tracks? talkGiler S 09:38, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've looked a bit around, and it seems that to conform to the Wikipedia standard, we'll have to do a new stub for each album, which would then include the tracklisting? I'm confused about this issue. There are quite a number of 10" or 12" where he only does one of the remix, but in this kind of situation, having the full tracklisting often helps finding what the exact record is. As for the dj sets, I guess we could ditch the tracklisting, but same thing may apply also, less of a problem though. Really, this list is huge, but handy. Maybe we could have a 'Andrew Weatherall discography' stub rather than cluttering up the main page? I don't know, tell me what you think is best. Also, you may not want to be this exhaustive here, and this list may even not be complete... You might like to take a look here: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Andrew+Weatherall (maybe plain link to that , delete the whole stuff and be done? Note that there are some info on live events and such in our Wikipedia page that isn't present in the Discog one, which list only the 'official' releases). God, what a mayhem. Nico235, 8 August 2006
Good idea — I have removed the discographic material (which was, I think, far too detailed for the entry (see here)) and added an external link to the discography site you recommended. I've also got rid of the other link (which didn't work), added one to the band's official website and generally tidied up a bit. Case closed, I think. Thanks very much for your help. talkGiler S 15:26, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It may be worth adding that Andrew Weatherall's 'Feathers' track was used in the Volkswagon Tiguan advert.

Strange that's he's probably best known to the general record-buying public for Primal Scream's "Screamadelica" but it's not really mentioned here (apart from the mention of "Loaded", and general listing of Primal AScream as production workl) - ground-breaking cross-genre rock meets dance? Often acclaimed as album of its decade? Anyone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.113.170.97 (talk) 14:52, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Description of Loaded in first paragraphs

[edit]

Loaded is described in the initial paragraphs as "a hit remix of Primal Scream's earlier track "I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have"". I suggest changing this to something like "a hit track built from Primal Scream's "I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have" and other sources".
