Welcome!

[edit]

Hello there Utis, welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you ever need editing help visit Wikipedia:How does one edit a page or how to format them visit our manual of style. Experiment at Wikipedia:Sandbox. If you need pointers on how we title pages visit Wikipedia:Naming conventions. If you have any other questions about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the Village pump.

We have a fairly small but dedicated group of "classical music" editors here (I prefer "art music" alas, but seems to be controversial); I see you have already met Opus33, who has done quite an excellent job on many articles. Please join us! One thing we need is articles on a lot of individual pieces. I write a lot in the early music area (i.e. early Baroque and before). Thanks for your comments on the classical music talk page! Best wishes, Antandrus 15:20, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Classical music

Thanks for your comments, Utis. I'm sorry to be the grouchy person around here! I really do believe we are collectively doing a fairly crummy job (both in sprouting opinions all over the place, and in accuracy), but I'm also enthusiastic about efforts anyone is willing to make to improve the situation. Best wishes, Opus33 16:42, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Hi Utis--thanks for your note. First of all I think your idea of expanding Dallapiccola is an excellent idea; I stumbled on that stub myself a while back. Do you know the Canti di prigionia or the Canti di liberazione? (I wonder if he is more famous in Europe than in the U.S.? Seems like I never see his music programmed here any more.) As far as I know we don't have a place specifically for "classical music" editors to meet and discuss our general issues, but we could probably use the talk page for WikiProject Classical Music. I'd love to see an article on Ulysse (have you seen it? it was premiered in Berlin). Oh, and I'd be happy to read anything you want peer reviewed. Best wishes, Antandrus 21:42, 18 Oct 2004 (UTC)
