North korea hdi contradiction

[edit]

there are two very contradictory reports regarding the north korea hdi. One is the one from algora publishing presently mentioned in this article. the other is the 1998 U.N report mentioned in the 2009 version hdi a wiki article which states a far higher hdi of 0.766. Which one is correct? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_Human_Development_Index_(2009)#Countries_missing_from_latest_report — Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.79.245.49 (talk) 02:54, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Quite likely neither of them. It is difficult to accurately assess the situation in North Korea, since their government refuses to allow any independent and objective analysis of their economy and social conditions. At best we can only assume any total to be a reasonable guess. Mediatech492 (talk) 17:36, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Move sentence about not-inclusion of wealth per capita to "criticism" section

[edit]

Hey,

I would move the sentence

"The index does not take into account several factors, such as the net wealth per capita or the relative quality of goods in a country."

to the criticism section because it does not really belong in the summary imho. Geldbogen (talk) 17:58, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Too many see alsos

[edit]

If I replace the unrelated indices with just List of international rankings, and remove links that seem only tangentially connected, I get this:

But I'm not very familiar with this topic or its controversies, so I'm bringing it here for discussion instead of making the change myself. Jruderman (talk) 03:02, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
