The pricing given on the cablesurf website is out of date, the service currently costs around €55.

Also, comparisons between cablesurf and eircom (whatever purpose that might have) is off-topic for the Dungarvan article.

That still makes it cheaper than Eircom's 2Mbit package, which is still capped. Also, until and unless theres enough info for a seperate article on Casey's operations, which I doubt there is, it should be mentioned in Dungarvan. It is notable that the town avoided having its private cable operater being bought by one of the companies that eventually would become Chorus, as basically all rural operators were eventually subsumed by CMI, Irish Multichannel or SuirNore; the three firms that glued together to be Chorus sometime around the turn of the century, who have, arguably, stifled CATV development in this country since - looking to Dungarvan shows what a local CATV firm could have provided in the same time frame. I'm still on 17 channel analogue with no net or phone service here, in a Dublin suburb. Kiand 22:19, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
See, what you're talking about is comparing cable companies, not about Dungarvan. Eircom and Chorus' poor service belongs in the Eircom and Chorus articles, not in the articles for the towns or cities in which they have their headquarters. Twilo
You're not getting my point. Theres not enough info for an article on Casey's services, and the vast majority of town articles mention any companies that are based there and in many cases, their acheivments (or lack thereof). Eircom's poor service is definately mentioned in Eircom, Chorus Communications doesn't, which I will eventually adress - need to dig into their history a bit more and generally flesh out that stub. But there is definate relevance in mentioning Casey on the Dungarvan article Kiand 14:11, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Cablesurf

[edit]

A Cablesurf user (weirdly enough), has removed the reference to Cablesurf - notable here as they serve solely Dungarvan - twice.

They charge E40 a month for 9Mbit uncapped, Eircom charge E39.99 for 1Mbit capped. Thats a fair comparison...

Now, if an Eircom user was removing this, that would be expected. But someone who's actually a Cablesurf user?

Ancient friary

[edit]

Quote: "where portions of an Augustinian friary founded by the McGraths family in the fourth century survive" Christianity only arrived in Ireland with St. Patrick in 432 AD, the 5th century. Can somebody explain how to reconcile this with the above quote? 83.70.75.146 10:51, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Christianity didn't exactly come with St. Patrick, it was already in Ireland before 432 AD, just not well known. Eeffy

County town?

[edit]

Post-council merger, Waterford seems to have two administrative centres. Does that mean it also has two "county towns"? None? Just Waterford? Just Dungarvan? Can we source the statement as it stands, or reword it to be "safe" with regard to the existing source? See also this discussion. 79.97.71.180 (talk) 13:06, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
