Miscellaneous People

[edit]

Does Jason Franklin belong on this list? If so, the page linked to that name is a male activist and researcher, not an actress.

biased omissions and labels

[edit]

Right now I am do not wish to make any more corrections to the arrant nonsense that creeps into the Cuban sections. So in a parting gift I offer the following:

While that is true, that was done by Castro whose legitimate claim to govern Cuba is subject to dispute. However this list labels some exile groups terrorists without corresponding labels on present Cuban officials e.g. Raul Castro was involved in numerous killings and even some plane hijackings. This list also excludes a number of Cuban-Americans in high places in US Government Cuban-American lobby, a good number of Cuban journalists inside and outside of Cuba, a similar or larger number of notable Cuban historians and writers in exile e.g. Enrique Ros, Castro's own dissident military such as Huber Matos, or other notable military Felix Rodriguez, etc. And also lacking mention are Cuba born Alberto Bayo, and the Cuban operative mother of Totsky's assassin Ramon Mercader. The lists also excludes significant Cuban military from the Cuban Wars of independence e.g. Antonio Maceo, Calixto Garcia. I also notice some notable Cuban painters such as Amando Menocal, are also not here. Capablanca does not have a first name on the list, etc. etc. add nausea El Jigüe 12/09/05

I'd like to keep the list to famous people of cuban descent, and no one on the above list is "famous" per se, except if you ask me Enrique Ros. --Mrcolj 13:08, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If they have their own page on wikipedia, and were born in Cuba, I think they should be here. -- Beardo (talk) 20:49, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I completly agree with Beardo on that. Cuban-Americans should be those born in the USA to of at least one Cuban parent. But anyone who was born in Cuba should be considered Cuban. Afterall legally by the Cuban government they can request a Cuban Passport and would be entitled to one just for being born in Cuba. Callelinea (talk) 05:48, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong name

[edit]

Why is this list called 'List of Cubans'? The number of Cubans on the list is minimal, even token, compared to Cuban-Americans and foreign descendants of Cubans. Just look at the list of politicians for example. The Castros are there but who else of current or recent Cuban politicians? MichaelW 21:03, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pilots?

[edit]

Goes without explanation... why is there a list of pilots, and what does it mean? "Pilot" isn't really a rank nowadays... --Mrcolj 13:11, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cuban-Americans

[edit]

I've created the List of Cuban-Americans... All Americans should be moved there.. Mad Jack 20:39, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are many Cuban-Americans still on this list - plus all the names of non-notable American sports people. So this is no good for reference purposes. Most of the most important Cuban political figures over the last 100 years - with full articles - cannot be found here yet. --Zleitzen 22:38, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is sad these bondaries politics have created among our people. For those at the island and those out side would be important to know what wonderful artists are Cubans whatever they are. Cuban culture is just one!!Mercuba 22:58, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:TheJungle 1943.jpg

[edit]

Image:TheJungle 1943.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The image Image:Camilo poster.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --04:17, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
