The waterway over which it goes

[edit]

I believe, after further research, that the bridge is over the Caen canal, not the River Orne. I believe this because of this reference, which I think is more reliable than the others I've found, many of which are copies of us. Also this reference which even shows an ariel photograph. Should it be the current "British veterans' organisations" or "British veteran's organisations"? I vote for the last one, but I'm not sure... lzandman

"British veteran's organisations" would imply that there is one British veteran, and that he has several organisations. "British veterans' organisations" would be used when there are many veterans. DJ Clayworth 15:21, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Text from User:Mark Hickman is from http://www.ornebridgehead.org/indepth.htm, where Mark is the Websmaster and where he has writen the texts. -- John N. 00:28, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a brief comment. The Coup de Main force numbered 180 personnel i.e 30 men to each of the 6 Horsa gliders; not 181 as listed (the previous moved from main article, where it was submitted by an anoymous editor)

The text that User:Mark Hickman added can also be found on a British army page. Can we be sure that we can use it? Phaunt 10:13, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's too dodgy to be going on with, so I've removed it, leaving not a lot left. --Dtcdthingy 00:10, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi all. Well, as my first ever proper edit, I have added some detail about the history and current location of the bridge. I've also edited the intro to reflect the fact that 'Pegasus Bridge' was the name given to the original bridge. I suppose the existence of two bridges could lead to confusion. Although a couple of web-sites have the 'bought for a pound' information and I have heard it from a guide at the museum itself, I can't find an authoritative source online. Also, the museum website has been updated. Some of the info is only available on the old, Flash based version. Although this still exists on their site and can be found by following old links, I suppose it could disappear at any moment. I will try to get hold of some more authorative info when I visit the museum in July. TheSmuel (talk) 17:13, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Royal Ulster Rifles

[edit]

As far as I can determine, the RUR were not involved in the coup-de-main but landed by glider near Ranville (LZ-N) later on D-Day. I'll keep looking but if I can't find a ref, or one isn't addded, I'll remove the info. TheSmuel (talk) 09:24, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find any source that confirms this so I'm removing it TheSmuel (talk) 09:38, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Should there be any added reference to the first Call of Duty game?

[edit]

There is a level about operation Deadstick, which is very similar to the bridge and how it was taken over. Heroe Of Time (talk) 09:48, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
