Fightin' vandals

[edit]
Gret work! I wanted to let you know, to save time, the templates {{subst:test-n|PageName}} through {{subst:test4-n|PageName}} produce a
reference to the page edited. It saves a few keystrokes, at least. In any event,
thanks for fighting the good fight. --Hansnesse 16:27, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pokemon Articles

[edit]

About what you told me concerning the deletion of Pokemon articles:

  1. When I said "edit it" I didn't mean add MORE original research but revert it to the confirmed and official information.
  2. If you neither know anything nor do you care, how can you distinguish between what's original research and what's confirmed, valid information, thus proposing the deletion of the article?
  3. Again how can you know that I hadn't done anything noteworthy when you don't know anything about the subject. The things I edited were the sole things I spotted as original research, and I happen know certain things about the subject.
  4. While you see it as hundreds of articled filled with Fancruft, all the Pokemon entries are a part of an authorized project to create coherent and informative articles about the Pokemon, so as worthy as your observation may be, it is only an opinion and you should not enforce it when many people are working hard as an organization in order to pull off this project successfully.

For information on the project see: WP:PCP

RE: Point 1+2 above -- Simple, all the articles have "Weasly words" in common. Things like "Seems", "Appears", "Likely", etc. It's painfully obvious to ANY reader that this information is gleaned from original research (my guess viewing a trailer from the movie or some-such). I DON'T KNOW what the "confirmed and official" information about any of these characters are, and based on the quality of these three articles, nobody else does either, I don't have to have intrinsic information about the "Pokemon universe" to know a bad article when I see it.Oarias 22:42, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Point 3 above -- Dude, between my PROD tag and my AFD tag you made one edit where you changed like 3 words, the article was still "weasly".

RE: Point 4 above -- Geesh a Pokemon cruft "Union". Whatever... Notice I'm not not asking you to remove OBVIOUS major character articles or even minor character articles. But trying to defend articles that are based on speculation is a bit much for a web site that's supposed to be an encyclopedia. Oarias 22:42, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cruftwatch, hmm?

[edit]

I hear through the grapevine you don't much like cruft, and that Erik the Appreciator pointed you my way.

What's this about a society for dealing speculative fancruft? - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 05:32, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your recent comment on the AfD discussion page for this article at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Heidi_Choat, advocating that the article be kept on Wikipedia. Your time and interest is much appreciated. The outcome of the discussion was that AfD tag was removed and the article was kept, so thank you for your part in assisting this outcome! --SilverWings 21:57, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Fishystick.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Fishystick.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 16:03, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sex Tourism

[edit]

Oscar, good work on the prostitution page, you have some good information to contribute. Would you please take a look at the Sex Tourism page. We are at the end of a dispute and there is still a flag on the links. Would you remove the flag if you find the links acceptable.

I have moved Jeff Goldblum is watching you poop to User:Oarias/sandbox firstly because I am dubious about its notability but mainly because of your idleness: give us a link to the Google search (see this moan); if it has a YTMD page, link to that page. -- RHaworth 05:35, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not readd the photo, it's a BLP violation. Wikipedia's attitude towards BLP issues has tightened up in the last year, and for an issue like this we would need the subject's permission. Dougweller (talk) 09:27, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Uptech.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Uptech.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Schlong

[edit]

The article Schlong has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:DICDEF. Wiktionary already has this word and its etymology; usage examples can be added there.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
